Pattern Mixing

The holiday season makes me want to branch out and try new things! I don't know what it is about the chillier weather but all the sudden I just want to mix and match and build an outfit layer upon layer. Probably because otherwise I'm feeling pretty crummy about the coldness and gloomy clouds out there threatening to dump freezing rain and eventually snow. I fully blame S.A.D (seasonal affected disorder) It's a real thing and it stinks! Yet, putting awesome outfits together and wearing them makes me oh so stinking happy! So here is to stepping out of our comfort zones for the Holidays! After all, the Holidays are about being and feeling cheerful and bright!

First order of business….Pattern Mixing.

Mixing patterns can be a little scary. Not knowing what patterns go with what or if you will look all kinds of hectic with too much going on all at once. I for one know that I always want to play around a little more and this outfit is as much pattern mixing as one can get! The key is to keep it all in the same colour scheme I believe. With this outfit it is all about mustard yellow (which I LOVE), black, grey and a touch of light brown. This dress is surprisingly right up my ally which I totally didn't expect but I fell in love with it as soon as I set eyes on it! To me this is a fun fall outfit but also a different take on a holiday outfit too!

What kinds of patterns do you love to put together?
