Ring in the New Year!

Photography: Lori Romney// Tulle skirt c /o Bliss Tulle

I'm ringing in the New Year with bare feet and tulle…I can't think of anything better!

But really, I cannot believe 2015 has snuck up on me so quickly! This last year sped by and drug on all at the same time. Which I realize sounds impossible but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
This time last year we weren't even engaged…we hadn't even said "I love you" yet. Now we are happily married and more in love than ever. This time last year I was still new to the blogging scene and Utah scene. Now I don't get lost every time I leave my house and I have grown leaps and bounds along side this blog of mine. It is beyond crazy to me what can change in a year!

That being said. I am totally one for making plans and goals and needing a fresh start sort of push in the right direction. Some people are haters of New Years resolutions because they say they never work. For me I have seen so much change in myself and in my life over the last four years and it really does have a lot to do with making New Years resolutions. I LOVE the idea of the opportunity to start fresh. To look back and see what worked out the previous 365 days, and what didn't. Then to CHANGE those things that didn't. For some I suppose it just simply doesn't work. However, in my opinion, I don't see a better way to improve and make positive changes than to evaluate life and see where improvements need to be made, then settings goals to do so!

So for me this upcoming year will be all about PRIORITIES. Yup, that's my official word of the year. I have definitely improved this over the years but I still am human and tend to let important people and important things fall by the way side. When I took the time to evaluate this and look back on the last year I was proud of myself in a lot of departments. Priorities however wasn't one of them. I tend to get so focused on working hard at one thing that the really important things can take a back seat. NO GOOD. So I guess my other word this year will be BALANCE.

I am excited to work on these two goals/words over the next year and see how I can improve in these areas of life a bit more! I am excited to continue to work hard at my last years goals but also excited to learn to say no more often so I can really put what/who is important first!

2014 was one of my best years yet! Thanks to a lot of hard work paying off, a lot of unconditional love, a lot of adventures, and A LOT of courage.

2015 will bring even more of all of those things and I personally cannot wait to see it all unfold!

What are your goals or words for 2015?

Post Christmas

Well we made it back from our Christmas Winter Wonderland adventure. This place was seriously a dream land! It was the best Christmas ever to be able to get away with my favourite people!

I remember a line from a movie that goes a little something like this from a frustrated kid to his dad... "Dad, why are you always taking pictures?!" "Because I want to remember!" "Can't you try remembering WITHOUT the camera??" And another one from a commercial that really got me with a dad and daughter on top of a beautiful mountain…"Honey, the best way to capture the moment is to see it with your eyes."

My family isn't always the greatest at taking pictures when we are all together….but that is because we are far too busy making memories! Sometimes it bothers me because after I think dang it I hardly got any pictures but then I remember all the fun we had the entire time without someone whipping out their phone and trying to capture the perfect moment. I CAN remember without the camera.

We played games, watched movies, read books, built puzzles, explored the winter wonderland around us, drank far too much hot cocoa and cider, and ate so much delicious food I am certain I gained 10 lbs at least! It was all delightful and exactly what was needed.

Now don't get me wrong for one second…my brain is totally wired to want to capture the beauty around me. It's just how creative minds think! But I am slowly learning to just take in the moments around me and just BE in the moment around me.

I loved every moment with my family that was spent. I also love the few pictures that were taken. Especially that one of my sweet little nephew. Oh he's the most darling thing I ever did see.

Now it is unfortunately back to reality. Isn't Christmas just like a big delicious meal? So much time and effort put into it, so much excitement looking forward to it….then after all the build up it's gone just like that…

I hope your holidays treated you well!

The First Gift Was Not Wrapped

Photography: RoxBPhotography// Floral crown c/ o: Miss Stevi Marie// Vest c /o: Jacobs Scarves

Merry Christmas Eve Eve. I will be MIA for a week or so while I soak up as much uninterrupted time with my man and my family as possible! As I am sure you all will be doing the same! It is after all what this time of year is all about. It's funny how this time of year makes me feel. At times it has made me feel sad and stressed remembering some sad and trying times around this time of year. Yet, I am filled this year with SO much gratitude it's unreal. I feel hope and happiness and I feel so incredibly loved by my Savior and my Heavenly Father.

Sometimes it is really hard to see and to believe that there is a plan for you. A great plan that will bring you great happiness. I have at times felt like that was really not true. That I was alone in it all trying to make my way through all the muck. However, now I realize how wrong I was. I am truly lucky and truly loved and blessed by my Father in Heaven. I am also loved by my brother, Jesus. It is indescribable and unthinkable the sacrifices that man has made for each and everyone of us.

For God so loved the world, so he gave his only begotten son.- John 3:16. The very first gift was not wrapped. It is so important to remember what the real meaning of Christmas is. It is about a child who grew in to a man who changed the world and changed all of our lives. It is about a plan that has been set out for us all. We not only need to remember this at this time of year, when all the ribbons, bows, and wrapping paper seem most important. But to remember this and keep it in our hearts ALL year round.

I am grateful this Christmas to be married to my wonderful husband. I am grateful to be able to hug and kiss my family. I am grateful for my Utah family which consists of so many people. Without them my family would seem so much farther away. I am grateful for friends that keep in touch. I am grateful for my life plan. Most importantly I am grateful for God and his son Jesus Christ. Let's keep them in our hearts and minds always, especially in the next few days to come.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Under the Tree

Cardigan c / o: Joah Brown// Tee c /o: Madison and Sixth// Leggings c /o: Pink Blush// Socks c /o: Aeropostale

I'm sitting here wrapped in the coziest blanket with remnants of wrapping paper, ribbon and tape around me. I just finished wrapping the rest of our Christmas presents. I'll be home for Christmas is playing in the back ground and I have tears in my eyes thinking that I will see the ones I love most in just a few short days.

I've never been away from my family for the holidays and this whole month has been hard. I miss the traditions of home that the entire month of December brings. I hate to be away and missing out. This month has been SO busy it's been hard for us to start our own traditions. However, those will come with time and future kids and fun!

I am just SO entirely grateful to be with my family at least for a few days! They really are what matters most and the best Christmas gifts I will get will be hugs upon hugs upon hugs! What is it about hugs from the people we know care about us most? Don't you just feel so safe and happy?! I can't wait for those hugs!

In the mean time I have been wrapped in this cardigan from Joah Brown which is basically like a warm cozy hug! It's hand down the comfiest thing I have ever owned. It's long and the material is light and soft. mmm. I love it.

Now it's time to go drink some more hot chocolate in this cardigan. It's perfection.

TWO more days! Hip hip hooooraaaay!

His+ Hers Christmas

Photography: RoxBPhotography//
HERS: Vest c / o:Jacob Scarves// Winter crown c / o: Miss Stevi Marie// Sweater: H&M
HIS: Beanie: Target// Hoodie: H&M// Jacket: H&M (similar)

When we were dating I would always joke about how when we got married I would want to do His & Hers posts. He would laugh it off and I am pretty positive he thought I was kidding. Well, you should have seen his face when I asked our awesome photographer to do some separate shots so I could write a his and hers Christmas outfit post. Ha. Panic. He isn't the most comfortable in front of the camera but my he is handsome! I sure love this man for putting up with all my crazy antics and for supporting this blog 110% since the very beginning.

So this is what we wore for our first Christmas pictures together! Really, honestly, truly, if you do not own a vest that resembles the fur of a polar bear….well…I'm sad for you.

I love taking pictures with this man of mine! I also really love our great photographer! She is so much fun and so willing to trudge around in the snow for hours! Christmas sure is fun and I am trying to fill it with happiness and all fun new experiences since being away from family is proving to be SO much harder during the holidays.

Only FIVE more days though until I see their sweet faces!

Where will you be celebrating the Holidays?! Does your family do Christmas cards?! I'm excited to start this new tradition of our very own!

Happy last weekend before the Holidays!

Christmas Traditions

Beanie c / o: Madison and Sixth// Layering Shirt: c / o:Bohme// Jeans c / o: Aeropostale// Coat: gifted

I feel rather over dressed in these pictures. Not the dressy kind of over dressed but you know…bundled up and no snow in sight. However, I can feel it in the air and it is definitely on it's merry way! To get a little bit more in the Christmas spirit we are headed to see Christmas lights tonight and then to the Nutcracker this weekend!! I LOVE the nutcracker! I used to go to the lights and the Nutcracker with my parents but this year I will be going with friends and the hubby. As much as I miss doing these traditions with my family, I am so very grateful to have such good friends and an amazing hubby to really get into the Christmas spirit with!

I am however SO excited to see my family in just ONE week! Then we can do the rest of our Christmas traditions together! Make treats like caramel popcorn and nuts a bolts, have a Christmas eve message, make a yummy birthday dinner for dad, open Christmas eve pjs, and fill each others stockings!

What kind of traditions do you have for Christmas? What gets you feeling like Christmas is right around the corner? ….Probably the mile long lines in every store right? Yikes! Hate those. I'm all standing in line with a bag of toilet paper behind people filled with carts and carts of toys and clothes and things….and I'm just like…guys I just really need to buy this toilet paper!!

Anyways… Happy Holidays!

A few things

Beanie c / o: Bohme// Jacket c / o: Pink Blush// Leggings c / o: Pink Blush

First of all, I could wear this beanie and jacket combo all day every day. Can it just be beanie season all.the.time?

Second, I have purple hair and I LOVE it! My hair has NEVER been this dark and basically I never want it to be light again!

Third, I'm tired. I am right drained. I am so ready for the Holidays to be here! To hug my family, kiss my nephew, and eat so much good food that I do not have to cook myself! It is going to be such a joyous reunion.

Fourth, I hope you are having a lovely week! Today I am going to spend wrapping presents under the tree lights, watching Christmas movies, drinking cocoa and doing a friend gift exchange! So basically I love Tuesday.

That is all for today folks! My brain is completely writer blocked. So cheers!

I'm dreaming of a…..

Sweater c / o: Ivory Rose(similar)// Beanie c / o: aeropostale (similar)// Socks c / o: aeropostale

Never in my life time has it been December 16th and not a pinch of snow in sight. I mean… I did grow up in Canada but still this is outrageous! I am mostly not mad about it. Besides the fact that all the sudden Christmas is basically a week away and I've been tricked in to thinking I had more time to get ready for it! Jokes on me! Snow does not equal Christmas and Christmas does not equal snow. Who knew!

However, I am still trying to be in the Christmas spirit and bring on that Christmas cheer! So listening to N*Sync Christmas on repeat, putting up decorations and drinking more hot chocolate than any human being should, has commenced and will continue until I am forced to stop!

Also getting me in the Christmas mood is Christmas and Holiday inspired clothes! Such as toques or beanies (potato potahto), and lovely sweaters with Reindeer and snowflakes on them. Although the no need for a coat thing is really throwing me off. But let's not focus on that…or the lack of bright white in the background…. The sweater is delightful and oh this beanie is also!

What gets you in the Christmas spirit? Are you a white Christmas person or a sandy beach/palm tree Christmas person?

Little Black Dress Week: Look Four (mixing it up!)

Jumper: Piper and Scoot// Tee: Pink Blush// Necklace: Fifth and Mae

For all you peeps who might now really be in to the traditional LBD, here is a different take on it! The LBJ. Little Black Jumper. I seriously love this thing and if you know me at all you know that I am usually not in the mood for a dress. This jumper is still so easy to dress up for a nice Christmas party or Holiday party. Yet, you could also wear this out to dinner with the girls or out on the town for date night! In my opinion it's the perfect alternative to the little black dress!

This might totally be TMI but we are all family here right? So I wore this awesome jumper the the hubby's work Christmas party the other night and all the sudden I had to pee really bad…. I panicked for a minute feeling like I used to feel in ballet class, wearing a leotard and having to use the restroom STAT! However, DO NOT FEAR….no embarrassing moments happened and turns out it is MUCH easier to remove than a leotard in a moment of emergency.

So…now that we've gotten to know each other REAL well… have a great weekend!

Oh and where would you wear your LBJ?
